Blue Tit box in Ash Tree to the right as you face the gate at the Holly Guest Road entrance

Unused - good condition

Box lowered for easier access

Blue Tit box in third Lime Tree on the left inside the gate at the Holly Guest Road entrance

Used - nesting material cleaned out

Used - some eggs still there, possibly Great Tit

Blue Tit box in the Hawthorn in the middle of the field below the log seat

Contained seeds with tiny holes in them made by field mice or dormice -
box cleaned

 

Partial nest - probably Blue Tit

2009 - changed to Great Tit box

Box had rotted - replaced by Great Tit box No nest

Unused possibly because of a large nest above it - removed and new box 23 put in the next Hawthorn.

Old box later found on the ground with eggs in it. Birds used it after it was replaced in the tree.

New box - Nest found - box was woodpecker damaged so cleaned and protective plate fitted.

The old box had collapsed - not replaced.

Box 24

In Oak Tree on left of the path in the Steps Wood going back towards the hill overlooking Oak Tree pond

Old nesting material and large number of green and black slugs - box replaced Nest found - box cleaned and protective plate fitted

In a Field Maple in the Steps Wood off a side path to the left of the second set of steps

Box had fallen off - replaced

Nest with Great Tit feathers - box cleaned and protective plate fitted

In a Hawthorn on the right hand side down from the second set of steps

Nest - box damaged by woodpecker so replaced

Blue Tit nest - box slightly damaged so cleaned and protective plate fitted

In a Hawthorn in a clearing in the lower far right of the Steps Wood

Blue Tit nest, chicks fledged - woodpecker damaged so replaced

Some nesting material.

Severe woodpecker damage - full-sized hole. Box cleaned and protective plate fitted.
