How to Make Elderflower Champagne
Peter Gulliford sent us this so that you too can enjoy the high-life
on the cheap! A refreshing drink made from a plentiful plant.
Give it a whirl and let us know how you got on.
Pick 2-4 Elderflower heads (full bloom)
- 1 off Lemon and/or 1 Grapefruit
- 2 off tablespoons (30mls) white vinegar
- 1 ½ lb (0,6-0,7 Kgms) white sugar
- Place flowerheads in clean container
- Add juice and rind (no white pith) from lemon/grapefruit
- Add sugar and vinegar
- Make up to one gallon, stir occasionally.
- Leave for 24/48 hours
- Strain or decant into strong bottles.
- Ready to serve chilled after two weeks.
