The Ridge Gets its First Real Snow in Years

There's been the occasional sprinkling of snow on the ridge over the years making it a 'new sight' for us regulars. There's even been the occasional hard frost to give similar visual treats, but this years snow took us all by surprise.

Apart from making the Ridge a delight to view, the thick snow brought out a wealth of people looking to have some fun. So clearly many people DO know the Ridge exists!

If you walk the Ridge on any day of the week (when it's not snowing of course!), you hardly see anyone. In fact I've often recounted to others of the many times I've walked the Ridge without seeing a single soul from one end to the other.

Here is the evidence though that many people not only know about it, but know the slopes that ought to make a great toboggan run. Plastic bags, trays, table tops and a variety of other household items made up the flotilla of sledges.

Not many real sledges were in sight, an indication of the fact that it's been a long time since we had 'real snow'. That didn't seem to spoil anyone's fun though as everyone made the most of the moment.

Thanks to Mike for supplying all the photos.
