Outline of the Friends' Role
Here is a summary of the Friends role:
- To ensure proper management of, and improvement to, both the
wildlife and amenity value of the Ridge.
- Encourage local authorities to spend resources on the site
and to look favourably on requests by the Friends for improvement
and maintenance on the Ridge.
- Ensure that there is proper continuity in the management of
the Ridge.
- Act as a shield in the face of a potential threat to the public
open space, thus helping ensure the Ridges' long-term future
as a natural asset contributing to the well-being of the community.
- Ensure that individual projects contribute to the improvement
of the site and are not contradictory to their aims and objectives.
- Identify individuals, groups and/or organisations to be involved
in the management of the Ridge.
In actuality, this involves the group meeting once a month to
discuss work in progress as well as projects to be undertaken
on workdays. Workdays generally occur once a month on week-ends,
but occasionally an extra day may be used for additional work
or special projects.
You can see examples of what we get up to on our workdays
page.
